Main purpose of job:
The UK’s Indo-Pacific Comms Hub supports comms colleagues working for the UK government in the region, provides strategic direction on UK government comms and offers crisis support across the region where required. The team has a vital role working with and complementing The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s global network of communicators based in London and at posts across the Indo-Pacific region. The team brings together specialist skills in strategic communication, media handling, digital communications, insight, monitoring and evaluation. The UK Government’s communication in the Indo-Pacific aims to demonstrate the UK’s long-term commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific by showing the value of the UK’s reliable partnerships across the region – especially on growth, security and climate change. The Hub uses comms as a lever of policy, to advance our regional, thematic objectives and strengthen our regional narratives, including on the UK’s distinct approach, voice and offer. This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent insight and evaluation specialist to play a crucial role in the team, delivering impactful strategic communications in a geographically and culturally diverse region.
Working directly to the Deputy Head of the Hub, you will be responsible for analysing and interpreting data from a range of sources to provide actionable insights that will help shape our regional communications, as well as communications back in London HQ. You will be enthusiastic and proactive; have expertise on the use of Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, and other social media listening tools; experience in handling survey and focus group data; and be able to translate audience insight into actionable communications advice. With an eye for emerging communications trends, you will have a passion for sharing your insight and evaluation skills with others. You will be based in British High Commission Singapore. You should also expect to travel, with the possibility of travel across the region and to the UK.

Working patterns:
Normal working hours are 37.5 per week: 8:30AM to 5:00PM from Monday to Friday. The team operates a ‘core hours’ policy of 10:30AM to 2:30PM with individual flexibility around that.
British High Commission Singapore supports and promotes flexible working as a crucial part of our inclusive offering. Our current policy allows for staff to work from home for up to 40% of their working week, subject to line manager agreement.
In addition to the duties which this job normally entails, you may from time to time be required to undertake additional or other duties as necessary to meet the needs of the High Commission, including playing a part in the corporate life of the mission and supporting any crisis response.
No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. You must have or be able to obtain a local work permit which we will sponsor.
Staff recruited locally by the British High Commission are subject to terms and conditions of service according to local Singapore employment law.
