The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) Mexico team works for UK businesses and serves as a frontline response to connect companies with business leads in the country, with the core aim to help UK firms win and expand their business in Mexico and the region. The position will report directly to the Head of Head of the Security, Defence and Aerospace, Digital Tech and Mining sectors Team, at the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) for Latin America in Mexico, based in Mexico City. It will be a full-time position starting in December 2024, subject to receipt of a successful security clearance with a 3 months’ probation and subject to review an open-ended contract. The position will mainly assist British commercial interests in the Security, Defence, Aerospace and Mining sectors in Mexico. The main role is to contribute towards the sectors’ strategy and support British companies in Mexico delivering value towards the negotiations of the UK-MX Free Trade Agreement.

Working patterns: Flexible/hybrid working can be considered for the right candidate, but please note you may be expected to travel to other cities in/across Mexico and to the UK. It is expected to be at the office for a minimum of four days a week, working for 38 hours per week. Candidate is expected to attend events outside of working hours when needed. |
Candidates must be able to live and work in Mexico in their own right.
The successful candidate will be subject to a security clearance and professional reference checks.

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of 12 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
