Main purpose of the role:
To support UK government in delivering the Violence Against Women and Girls campaign in Jamaica. The successful candidate will gain the opportunity to develop diplomatic, communication, programme management and relationship development skills.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Gain a wide and current understanding of the broader politics towards VAWG in country and the region.
- Support communications team in procuring a communications agency to deliver a comms campaign
- Assist with planning and logistics for VAWG missions, other visits and areas of work involving the Political & Communications team.
- Develop a comprehensive stakeholder map and matrix
- Support SLT to ensure they have the necessary information on the VAWG campaign to help embed and deliver the campaign across the mission
- Work closely with the Social Development Advisor and (pending recruitment) consultant to contribute to the day-to-day management of the campaign and strategic outputs.

- Undergraduate degree as a minimum
- Strong understanding of gender equality landscape (including policy, key stakeholders) in Jamaica and wider Caribbean region.
- The ability to surmise and interpret information effectively
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy across all MS platforms and other data platforms, including excel, with the ability to learn new computer software quickly
- Excellent planning and administrative skills
- The ability to work flexibly within the team and occasionally work remotely if required
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Good Interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a larger, virtual team
- References, preferably professional, will be requested

Candidates must have the legal status to live and work in Jamaica at time of application.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list. If during the reserve period of 6 months the same or largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second of subsequent candidate.
