Water Conservation Coordinator

The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Water Conservation Coordinator in the Utilities Department.

As the Water Conservation Coordinator, you will:

• Evaluate, develop, and implement conservation strategies, policies, ordinances, techniques, best management practices, and programs for effectiveness, cost/benefits, quality assurance, and accomplishment of the City’ goals related to conserving water resources, reducing peak water demands, and meeting groundwater reduction requirements.
• Maintain records and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including local and state regulatory reports related to water use and water conservation, such as the annual Water Loss Audit, Water Use Survey and Conservation Report.
• Maintain the City’s Groundwater Reduction Plan program data and reporting, including monthly and annual reporting and permit applications.
• Develop and responsibly manage the water conservation fund budget.
• Establish relationships with community members, community organization representatives and stakeholders that foster support and partnerships to advance the City’s water conservation efforts.
• Create and maintain a database of key personnel in commercial entities and major campus locations to provide information on water-related issues and contact in a water related emergency.
• Regular on-site attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war.

Typical Qualifications:

Formal Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Water Resource Planning, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university required.

Relatable Work Experience:

• Three (3) years of relevant experience required.
• Municipal government experience preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Training (License and/or Certification):

• Valid Texas Class “C” Driver License
• Certification from the American Water Works Association as a Water Conservation Practitioner and licensing as a Water Auditor preferred.
