Main Purpose of job:
The job holder will provide support to drive vehicles with the transport motor pool and assist garage team in daily/weekly maintenance of the official vehicles. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing good administrative policies and practices and providing key operational delivery to improve operations of the Transport Section of the British Deputy High Commission (BDHC). To provide safe and professional driving services as and when needed.

Roles and responsibilities that a jobholder will be expected to achieve:
Driving: 60%
The driver’s duties should include:
- Daily check of tyre pressures, hydraulic fluid, oil, radiator, and battery level.
- Keeping an accurate record of all journeys in Vehicle Log Books.
- Keeping the vehicle cleaned.
- Reporting any defects.
- Maintain a record of Vehicle Checklist, ensuring vehicles are kept serviceable.
- Wearing official uniform (where appropriate).
- Making sure that all passengers use seat-belts.
- Security of vehicles in their care, ensure testing of communication equipment is conducted regularly.
Assistant Mechanic Garage: 40%
- Assist garage team in “Daily vehicle checks” conducted by drivers to ensure any faults reported are looked at with priority.
- Assist in maintaining “Vehicle Service History”, ensure all maintenance conducted is recorded promptly.
- Assist garage team in conducting Pre-Trip Inspection of vehicles prior to commencement of any field trip, record findings on file.
- Assist in conducting 03/06 monthly and yearly safety inspection/repair of the vehicles and keep the record file up to date.
- Assist in conducting scheduled service intervals. Accurate record must be kept in Service History.
- Job holder must hold a valid driver’s licence.
- Job holder will be required to use vehicle diagnostic scanner and read and rectify DTCs.
- Ensure all Tools and Equipment are kept serviceable, up to date inventory of items in the Garage.
- Cover Chief Mechanic in absence.
- Outdoor activity including buying parts and equipment for vehicles and garage
Job Holder will be expected and should be able to work independently or assisting on the following.
- Overhauling engines for Toyota Land Cruiser, 200 Series VDJ200 V8 Engines.
- Service Braking systems.
- Suspension Systems.
- Check and diagnose Transaxle System
- Should have knowledge to read Electrical System diagnosis
- Conduct test drives to verify vehicle serviceability requirements.
- Exhaust System including DPF.
- Intake System including EGR.
The above list is not exhaustive, you will be expected to work on other tasks as well and could be asked to come in on short notice outside of working hours, including over weekends, if needed.

- Preferred to have experience in maintaining and repairing soft-skin vehicles (At least 3 years of experience)
- Must hold knowledge of engine mechanics.
- Good knowledge about vehicle electrical modules and should be able to use Diagnostic Scanners

For BHC candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.
For other than BHC candidates the basic salary will be PKR 128,309 per month. This salary is non-negotiable.
