The British Embassy Dubai has a vacancy for a Senior Trade Specialist – Applied Technologies and Data with Scottish Development International (SDI), job grade HEO on a fixed-term contract for three (3) years.

Scotland is Europe’s leading manufacturer of small satellites; its spaceports will be major launch hubs for Europe and its data infrastructure means Scotland is fast becoming Europe’s data-driven capital especially regarding earth observation capabilities. However, space is just one part of the applied technologies portfolio, you will also work with many companies in other key areas such as climate technologies and photonics.
Based at the British Embassy Dubai the successful candidate will also be responsible for strengthening innovation partnerships with UAE stakeholders that help Scottish companies internationalise – an ability to build collaborative ecosystems is a key part of the role.
The British Embassy Dubai is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. SDI works in collaboration with the UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) as well as leading on the Scottish Government’s international trade strategies.

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, which includes 25 days of leave per annum (calculated pro-rata)
Salary is at AED 24,911 per month.
There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
The Embassy is open from Monday to Friday from 0700 to 1800 hrs. The Employee’s normal weekly working hours are forty (40) Monday to Friday (inclusive). This is inclusive of one-hour paid rest break for each five (5) hours worked; the timing of the rest break shall be approved by the Employee’s Line Manager and in accordance with operational requirements.
The successful candidate will be required to transfer their visa under the Embassy’s sponsorship.

Process:
The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around two – three months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and with UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidate’s profile and UK footprint.
