The British Embassy in Israel is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Officer.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, creative and highly motivated individual to play a key role in delivering the Embassy’s communications strategy and wider objectives. Reporting to the Senior Communications Officer, the jobholder will be responsible for leading the Embassy’s prosperity-related comms, securing wide-ranging press coverage with a focus on business, trade, science and technology, and supporting the Embassy and wider comms team’s work.
The role includes maintaining relationships with local journalists, business marketing, and working with teams across the Embassy to design and implement communications, campaigns, events and activity outreach. The Communications Officer will support the wider comms team, including in tracking, analysing and reporting Israeli media trends.
The successful candidate will be expected to be creative, proactive and collaborative, with the ability to support work across a wide range of topics including politics, diplomacy, trade, science and technology.
This role is best suited to an experienced, well-rounded communications professional, with connections in news outlets (legacy and new media), and / or Israeli media in the fields of business, trade, tech or science. Excellent Hebrew and English are essential, including the ability to translate quickly and accurately between the two languages.

Working hours and remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a non-negotiable salary of ILS 15,300 per month plus transport allowance and social benefits as required by the law.
No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. Parking facilities are not provided nor paid for by the Embassy.
This position is for a full-time employment, on permanent contract, subject to a 4-month probationary period.
Working hours is 37.5 per week. Normal working hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00-16:00 and Friday 8:00-13:30. This is a hybrid position with a minimum of two days a week in the office. The position may require occasional overtime and possible travel abroad.
Any flexible working patterns may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies.

Process:
The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around two-three months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and with UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidates’ profile and UK footprint. You may experience some delay in the progress of this recruitment campaign, and we are working hard to minimise any disruption.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful at interview may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of six (6) months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
